Big plates,
bigger view.

Alloy Kitchen is the restaurant and bar at Mountain Lodge Telluride. New bar, new booths, and the same view of the San Juans. Chef Lonnie Shepard cooks mountain food with a few flavors from farther off: ribeye, elk bolognese, trout, pork belly tacos, Himalayan dumplings. You don’t have to be staying here.

Our story

Named for the mix.

An alloy is two metals melted into one that’s tougher than both. Telluride has run that way since the mining days: miners and skiers, locals and whoever came up on the gondola, all at the same bar. We named the place for it. Nobody’s in a hurry to turn your table.

Outlaws welcome. Regulars, too.

Live at the lodge

Music sounds better up here.

Live music in the Après Lounge, Fridays and Saturdays 4 to 7, plus Thursdays starting January 7. Sundays wind down with music 6 to 9.

Order the pretzel and stay for the set. Outlaws welcome.

Happy hour

3 to 5. Drink specials at the bar. Order the pretzel.

The pool deck

Heated pool, gondola overhead.

Heated pool, hot tub and gondola cars sliding by overhead. Food and drinks come out from Alloy.

Five Saturdays this winter it’s Après at 9,545: December 12, January 30, February 20, March 13 and April 3. Firepits, lasers, bubbles and house music on the pool deck from 4 PM.

Sundays bring Sunday Rehab, 1 to 5 from November 29, in the Après Lounge or out on the deck, weather depending.

In the kitchen

Chef Lonnie Shepard.

The old mining camps called the head cook Cookie. Ours is Lonnie. He cooks for people who spent the day outside, so the portions are big and he doesn’t rush the gravy. Start with the short rib.
